Hello everybody! Ginevra's been a no good very naughty bad rat and needs to be punished. See, she committed a crime against the Pantheon during the Veraius event: She betrayed everybody who was fighting the vampire and willingly assisted him in fighting the resistance, without being enthralled, for her own personal gain.   (Highlight to read!) This is a big dragon no-no! Veraius called her out for it and attacked her and word got around. Now me and Azar are going to be holding a trial to go over what she's accused of, the details of her crime, and what should be done about it. Everyone is invited to the Library at the big table conference room next Saturday (probably around 8PM EST, whenever Ginevra, Azar, and myself are all available) to hear the testimony and give their opinion on what should be done. Then, our priest, Azar, will hand down the punishment!

I'll spoil it for you: I think she should be exiled! I'll lay out exactly why at the trial, but that's the position Molly will be taking. Specifically, she should be exiled until she manages to lift the curse Veraius left on her with everybody else with the help of the gods, signaling their forgiveness of her and hopefully that she wouldn't do it again! Exile means that she'd be restricted to the other side of Scholar's Bridge and people who aren't exiled would not be permitted to talk to her, help her, do business with her, or anything like that (but probably still would, in secret, if they think they can get away with it). It's a punishment reserved for crimes against the Pantheon like murder and cannibalism, the strongest punishment that can be applied given that the death penalty is forbidden for obvious reasons.

This is an OOC thread so if you have any commentary on that or anything else feel free to drop a reply below ahead of time so we can get any feedback addressed! This thread isn't for arguing her case, though, you can save that for the trial.

Molly

Prepping this post in advance as we wait for Azar to finish... that was awesome! Thanks so much to everyone who showed up, I had a blast! The twists, the arguments, the drama!! It was so fun to play through it and snipe at people and get sniped back, it was everything I was hoping for, another thing that will be talked about in Morenth until the server gets wiped! No shade on anybody who I clashed with, it was really fun getting to argue with you and I hope you had fun with me too.

I was hoping that by delaying the trial for a week people would have time to plot and plan, and I honestly expected for Molly not to get her way. I did have some plans to continue the story if that happened, with Molly accepting the rejection of exile but not the insult to the gods, so in a way I was almost hoping to be shot down so I could go Avenger Mode... but I'm okay with it unfolding how it did, considering how many awesome reveals there were. I hope people have logs of the full thing, I wouldn't mind seeing them posted here!

Quarrel

It was extremely fun for me as well. I'm glad that it didn't seem like I derailed too much - my goal was to be "around" for it as Quarrel but to not overshadow Azar's judgement or distract too much from the traitorous potato.

Quarrel makes an odd mewling noise.

Someone says, "What the--"

You say, "Godsdamnit."

There was like a 50/50 shot in my mind that it would be a cool reveal or a funny in character moment, and I was going to be thrilled by either. RNG did not disappoint. I was also somewhat surprised she got exiled considering the loud sympathy for her, but if anything that will just add more diversity to interactions later on. The fallout from all of these revelations is something I always look forward to.

Also I love how during ANY event there's so many characters who forget to bring food and drink. It's such a running gag at this point.

You think, "I brought my own food at least. Mostly because I am spying."

I spent a horrific amount of time trying to process everything OOC and I still don't think I have. 10/10 experience, I feel like I have a million puzzle pieces and no edges to start from.

Ginevra

Everyone so far is surprised that Ginevra got exiled, meanwhile I'M surprised that she had any supporters at all, outside of Eyes and Sebastian! I wholly expected her to be despised by every critter in Kalris after the Veraius finale, and the ultimate exile sentence didn't shock me in the slightest, though maybe that's just me being a pessimist, haha. (But, the most shocking thing was easily a certain someone delivering the final nail in the exile coffin at the eleventh hour, I definitely never could have prepared for that!)

The trial was fun, but admittedly, I'm disappointed in how I handled a lot of things IC, and unfortunately, with the nature of Farwoods, there's no going back, so I'm just gonna try to learn from those mistakes and move on as best I can.

Harris

Love love love how this all played out.  There were definitely strong arguments for both sides of the table!  I was for sure swayed by Eyes so I could have seen the verdict falling either way.  Molly's opening case was awesome too though, really nailed down the severity of it to critters who may have been more on the fence prior.  Dart was a surprising speaker to me too, and they also did a great job. Absolutely giddy at the reveals. Verauis letter was great.

Ironically I think though Meshi and Harris meant well, they may have steered the table into directions that made Ginerva look more incriminating. (Somewhat intentional OOC on my end but he was being sincere lol)

Ultimately I think the majority of Ginerva supporters were just sad to see a fellow critter go rather than having any strong arguments of why she should stay so I am not too surprised by the outcome. (And the little devil on my shoulder is rubbing hands together because its definitely the outcome that leads to more drama).

Loved all the little gags that crocked up, critters getting hungry, but also the "Keep the door open!" when so many critter's first instinct with a door is to shut it behind them, Cinna having to be pushed to get through, critters commenting/gossiping through mindlink, etc. And the THUNDERSTORM IS NOT AN OMEN GM note.

I was definitely impressed there weren't too many critters talking over each other. (Personally felt a few more outbursts and shocked gasps wouldn't have been too disruptive- Molly didn't even have to bang the ORDER IN THE COURT gavel lol)

The setup leading up to it all was good too, plenty of visible notices explaining the time and date, and the fire crystals leading to the door were a nice touch.

(The fact that two yellow mages were the 'hosts' they could have set sigils out to have things run more 'smoothly' but there were at least some in the guild prior to the official start and no sigils is the funnier option)

I do think the library was a good location for hosting the trial, though if a critter does ever make a courtroom IC I would be curious how an audience with access to pickpocketing and hostile intent might shake things up for a future trial lol.

Miracle

Miracle was actually a bit of a 'neutral' party in this one (With a slight slant towards a guilty verdict).  She always intended to 'play' both sides if approached, or be spiteful if someone rejected aid or insulted her more personally.  Nothing triggered her too far in either direction in the preparation week so she was just content to watch the show.  Then it stopped being fun and games- uh oh!  No coming out on top of that one!

(Hypothetical arguments for if she was more involved:)

She would say Veraius was emotionally manipulating Ginevra even without enthrallment- or in the opposition- that Ginerva has been emotionally manipulating Eyes. Play up that 'sad orphan never properly schooled in the Pantheon's teachings' angle or 'she's grown and had access to plenty of teachers here'.  I do think theatrics about Miracle being the 'main victim' in all of this would have likely helped Gin more than not so she kept quiet lol
