Commerce Guild - Early Applications Now Open!

The Commerce Guild is now welcoming early applicants!

Anyone may apply. Ideally if your character has met Sebastian at least once in-character, but this is not a strict requirement.

Since a significant amount of in-game time has likely passed during the hiatus, this is an opportunity to establish your character's apprenticeship or full membership ahead of time. You can also arrange mentor/apprentice pairs early if you'd like to start roleplaying those dynamics on the forums or in your personal roleplays.

Combat-focused characters are welcome! Fighters can serve as guards or (when the map is reworked) caravan protectors.

How to Apply

You can use the template below or create your own, as long as it includes the basics: who's applying, their trade (if any), and their level of skill.

You're welcome to answer in-character or out-of-character, whichever you prefer!

  • What is your critter's name?
  • What is your critter's trade?
  • How skilled are they at their craft?
  • Is their burrow used as a shop?
  • If yes, would you like it added to the Guild Registry?
  • Can you provide a bit of information about your critter?
  • Are you seeking apprenticeship or full membership?

Once the game reopens, I'll need a little time to set up certain elements, most notably the Guild membership tokens. Thank you for your patience!

Pack

I do not remember exactly what level Pack is at for all of her skills, since I was in the process of leveling. This is the most accurate list I have based off of my notes:

Scrounging: 50 (Mastery.)

Woodworking: 30? (Notes only say professional, and I would not leave it on an odd number.)

Tailoring: ~40 (As I recall she got to roughly level 40.)

After she has mastered tailoring I intend to have her master wood armory. Unless another skill is added which fits better...

She does not have a shop, but she rents a deposit box and mail box from Song's Post Office for business purposes. This could be added to the Guild Registry if the intent is to supply locations where the character could be contacted?

For some information about the character: Pack is intentionally played to be abrasive in a direction I usually don't play. She is more or less inspired by those 'good citizens' who wave their morality and acts of service around like that makes them a 'good person', when really they think everyone else is far below themselves. You could craft a flawless item in front of her and the best you'll get is "acceptable". If anyone ever feels like I am going too far in an interaction please speak up. I have been monitoring OOC chats and it seems like her 'victims' find enjoyment out of the irony, which is my goal, but I understand everyone has different tolerances.

All of this being said, she is also built to be of general use to the community. If anyone wants training on one of her skills, or needs items for player-made events/GM events, please feel free to reach out. I am more than willing to see if there's something I can do, even if it's just popping on at a scheduled time for a scrounging party.

Harris
  • What is your critter's name? - Harris
  • What is your critter's trade? - Messenger, Deliveryman, Chef, Dubious Translator
  • How skilled are they at their craft?  - Cooking Mastery (50); and a few other odds and ends for desperate measures or lower rank skill book dictation purposes. (Two physical skills above 30 iirc, majority of his languages and 'he just has this because its funny to me' skills are under 20, can discover and discuss in game)
  • Is their burrow used as a shop? - On demand. Currently its mostly used as storage and a few nomad rooms.  He has ambitions for turning his personal burrow into a cafe/rest stop but its not there yet. However he does do cooking work at other critter's burrows, and is a partner at Song's Post Office.
  • If yes, would you like it added to the Guild Registry? - Not yet, but perhaps in the future.
  • Can you provide a bit of information about your critter?
  • Personality - Harris is a hapless, well meaning critter who often finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Affable, naive (foolish), curious (nosy), generally conflict avoidant- this busybunny is a people pleaser who loves meeting critters and showing others around.  He is often giving to the point of detriment.  He does his best to reach out to foreigners with his limited language capacity and help newcomers find their footing- if he can't help directly he might 'know a guy'.  However he doesn't take well to critters who take advantage of others.  He can be surprisingly stubborn and known to hold a grudge- make no mistake he is a critter who follows his heart, for better or worse.
  • Business - Harris is happy to volunteer for a variety of odd jobs. Generally smaller deliveries, passing on a verbal message, advertising/word of mouth, or resource swaps, but he'll attempt helping with hauling in a pinch.  He enjoys accompanying scrounge outings, despite his lack of focus. (Novice scrounging iirc)  Skills-wise he has mastered Cooking, and is happy to mentor or cook for anyone who can provide the supplies.
Sebastian

Thank you for the applications! Both of these look good. One additional question would be whether you're seeking full membership or apprenticeship. Given both of your skill levels, I'd wager full membership, but I'd like to be certain. (I've added the question to the form for anyone applying in the future as well.)

Otherwise I highly doubt Sebastian would turn away either of these critters! Welcome to the Commerce Guild as the first official members!

I'll properly add your characters to the Guild's members list. I'll also likely write up something for orientation either here or on the proper guild forum post soon, so you'll have a guide you can use as a loose idea on what your characters could have been doing during the Guild's first proper steps.

Pack

Yes, I intend for her to be a full member. Sorry!

Dart

Critter's Name: Dart

Trade: Blacksmith/Weaponsmith

Skill: 50/50 in Blacksmithing and Weaponsmithing, and around ~20 for sprinting and running

Is their burrow used as a shop: Not currently! Dart usually does sales/commissions where ever critters are. Considering it for the future

Information: Dart is a bit of a scatterbrain but does at least try to pay attention to other critters. They run Althas's wayshrine currently, but I haven't been able to catch a master tailor for the tapestry yet

Are you seeking apprenticeship or full membership: Membership, I would alsp enjoy teaching any aspiring blacksmith as well ^^
