Hello, all! A few months back, I designed some Farwoods critters based on randomly picked traits and concepts and shared them with the discord.

I'd like to offer them up as free adoptables! You can make a 'claim' if you are interested in playing the character concept. You will have free reign to use the artwork and change details/expand on their lore however you see fit. They will be first come first serve, so post here if you would like to claim one! Please post with an existing character account. Don't try to make the character in advance, as names may already be in use. (I won't limit them to one per person since I intend to do more on occasion, but will ask that you wait at least a month to claim an additional character.)

I will be writing mini-profile suggestions, design notes, and posting colors in their own post for each individual character as I do them (no guarentee all will be completed)- these characters will be noted in bold- but you are welcome to claim before I finish those if you like the sketch as is.

Sample Description: A soft, red furred critter with their hair tied up in a neat bun with a red ribbon. Her fur is neat and tidy, but starting to show signs of age around the muzzle. She has a scar under her left eye, near her muzzle.

Concept Bio: Lantern was a courtesan who spurned her arranged marriage to follow her heart. She married a commoner, a leader of a resistance. However, her lover had their own debts and met a grisly end. Widowed and disillusioned with the movement, Lantern spent many years traveling alone. She has been focusing on her magic to feel something again- after so long her heart may be ready to open to others once more.

Design notes:

Clothing is inspired by the Tang Dynasty period- I used a website called New Hanfu as a refrernce (clothing design in general is not my strong suit so pardon any inaccuracy lol).

Originally I rolled for favorite colors/ clothing palettes, but lost track of those. I think hers had red and a deep blue, but white ended up being a bit easier to balance for me. Signature color is red, but yellow, white, and perhaps blue could make nice accents.

Entomology: The name "Lantern" is just a cute visual of carrying a warm light around at night.

Name: "Hachi" the Japanese Weasel

Pronouns: they/them

Age: 65 / Older adult

General Concept: "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE" Hermit cryptid/beast seeker- a critter very invested in recording folklore and legends.

Suggested Patron: Elyenne

Sample Description: A small, pale furred, disheveled weasel with a graying, nearly white muzzle and tattered ears. They have two jagged scars on their right leg, and one across their neck.

Concept Bio: You saw something in the woods in a child. The memories are hazy, but the feeling- you remember so clearly. Its a feeling you will ensure you find again.

The song picks on this one definately suggest a meloncholic falling out or unrequited love. Did their obsession push away a friend? Did they lose a partner, also seeking the thing? Is the the thing they are seeking in actuallity the friend that went missing? In any case this weasel Yearns for sure.

The colors on their sash/belt refrence Elyenne.

Entomology:

"Hachi" means 'eight', but the design refrences the story of Hachiko, a real life dog that waited ten years for his owner's return after they died. (Wikipedia explains other possible reasons for the name- being the eighth puppy in the litter, a marking on the paw, or eight representing good fortune at the time).

Original description:

An athletic 57 year old bat with a wavy blue-toned coat. Cerridwen provides you with plenty. Your tail is short, and your eyes are yellow. You use he/him pronouns. You are known for your kindness and stupiditiy.

Concept: Himbo Scrounge Hauler (max that carry STR lol)

Design Notes: Mostly speaks for itself lol. Big, big, arms, skipped leg day. The bat I picked was based on a hammerhead bat, but hognose bats are the type of bat that will be eventually be added.

The raindrops are intended to be a tattoo or dyed fur- and his eyebrows are bushy like storm clouds. He loves the rain. :)

Design Notes: Wanted to try my hand at a braided hair style. I like the idea of fire crystals as an ear piercing.
