Grieren and I are organizing a cooking symposium and workshop focused on the creation of the recipes yeast, butter, and pies.

The location will be Windy's burrow, the Riverside Bakery. It'll begin at Thursday the 17th at 7pm ET and probably run for a few hours; show up when you can.

To reduce disease spread, only bathed, healthy cooks, brewers, and pestlers are welcome inside the kitchen. (Yes, that means I won't be present at my event)

I will wait nearby at the Hidden Leaf if other critters want to wait to see what baked goods might be for sale afterward with me (and coincidentally take a bath or explore some of the update's cool furniture).

Attendees

All cooks, brewers or pestlers are welcome, even new players and less skilled characters. (though if there's a lot of people who only pestle, I'd prefer if pestlers are not multiboxing as cooks; new player pestlers can come though) We should have enough materials to tutor you at minimum.

Reply to this thread with your availability if you want to attend the event. I'd like to hold it within September. Remember this is an OOC forum so you can just say the times and days you're available in real world time.

Bring your own pans, pie tins, bowls, plates, and cups please. Also take note of how many you bring because they may get mixed up during the event. If you want copies of many recipes, also bring your own purchased paper. (note if you don't know: the paper needs to be blank)

I can supply a quern (mega pestle) and some pots myself. If you also have pots, please bring them and keep track of them yourself.

Recruiting

I will also recruit one door guard and one hauler. Post here if you're interested in either role.

The door guard's job is to check for health and cleanliness of attendees, and point other critters to the second location. They are also responsible for watching the temple's loaned cauldron. I would prefer someone who is not multiboxing as a cook, but it depends on volunteer availability. I will supply one meal and payment for them, to be negotiated. A decently-trained combatant with some speed or strength would be nice since they are now also watching a cauldron.

The hauler will help me drag supplies during setup and needs to be available an hour or so before the event (but you don't need to be around during). I will also supply one meal and payment for them.

Donations

I am also soliciting donations. Considering the event focus, we want these items:

- eggseed

- sweetberries (I picked a single berry type for easy packing into bags) for yeast development/potential wine used as donor gifts if we make yeast. Stale is better but fresh ones are accepted (they'll turn stale after some time anyway)

- logs (we need a lot more logs per cooked item than before)

- fire starters (to run multiple ovens and pots)

- paper (for writing recipes. bark is okay if you tell me it's for the event; I'll turn it into paper for free. )

I will personally donate ingredients and paper. (We have probably more nuts than we need so I'm no longer asking for any)

Logistics

I will organize so that critters who donate at least 2 lunas in value will receive a gift of cooked or brewed food based on newly developed recipes afterwards (it may take in game weeks if you don't eat cooked food). The donor gifts will not be stale unless you forget to log in for a while after the event. I can only give gifts if I know what you donated, though. Also, please try to make it obvious it's for the event somehow if you're trying to do this anonymously. I'm going to try to get a crate for this but we'll see

I will stop by the event location afterward for writing recipes (cooks who bring their own purchased paper can keep those recipes) and separating out donor gifts. I will distribute donated paper evenly among cooks who attended; you may not end up with a copy of every recipe, but you will definitely get the knowledge so you can experiment on your own. I'm hoping each cook gets to keep a couple of basic recipes, as well as most of the food they made during experimentation (I would like to keep some to gift to donors; you can eat or sell the rest)

I would prefer to collect all the pot ash to be turned into soap.

Sessha will be talking to critters and writing letters about this IC in the coming days; if you post here, I will know I should talk to you about it when I see you.

Also, as a note, I'm trying to let cooks keep specially developed recipes private if they prefer to, but the event focus is on generic/basic food items (we think yeast will allow for creation of alcoholic drinks, and we know it will allow for baked goods) that I think are reasonable to share widely.

I can bring my own oven, prep table and pot (and cask but that may be a longer brew wait)! As well as other ingredients I may have at my disposal. I am usually available:

The 6 pm time may work a little better for me in case I have some class things irl, but the prior is fine too. 

While bitter bite may be dwindling a bit for fleas, this could probably be a good time to gather and bathe the remaining critters that may still need one. Any help would be appreciated for consistent warm meals with a side of rum in the future!

I do have a bathtub and can host it at the secondary location, but maybe a secondary location that has its own bathtub is better. I'll try to get a soap fund together.

Quarrel:

To be honest, the cauldron will probably be great for boiling a barrel full of water for sanitary reasons. I will talk to the cooks and ask them to donate a portion of food after the event; I can add cauldron watching to the door guard's responsibilities. (though it may be the case that it's most reasonable to use the cauldron to cook a big batch of food afterward based on the recipes developed and drop the batch off with Quarrel rather than giving them a random assortment)

I could attend as either Harris OR Cinna depending on which one is healthier on the day of the event.  Currently Harris has fleas. </3

I'm usually free by 5:30 PM est, often more situated by 7 or later. I try not to stay up too late past 1 (but I know how this game is so 3 is kinda my alleged limit) Mondays and Fridays I can potentially be on earlier. Thursday and Sunday I generally don't mind staying up later.

Again, Harris would be my preferred attendee, with Cinna as a possible backup.  However if I do get very unlucky with diseases the other skills my other characters could bring to the table are (Master Brewing, Apprentice Pestling, Apprentice Forest Craft)

I will be writing letters and approaching cooks and scroungers I know IC in the next day or two, regardless if they have posted here (you can refuse if I talk to you IC though LOL); I'm going to eventually get advertising up when we settle on a date. I'm currently looking at next Thursday but we can wait for more cooks to post since right now the healthy attendee list is literally Grieren.

But hopefully with a set date, cooks can work IC on getting their cures and baths so they can come to the event :)

I would really love to have Windy at least provide the venue location and will of course pass her recipes (at minimum the 3 target ones, hopefully not written in Lapin) afterward if she can't come. If you remodel your place, could you lock the bigger kitchen behind a door and let my paid door guard use the key to let people in? I have an extra key if you need one.

I can't check the exact numbers right now, but I believe I can drop off a sizable amount of petalnuts and woodnuts, along with some sweetberries, fieldnuts and eggseed.

I've now hired a hauler and guard and will put in-game fliers out tonight (counting 'night' OOC) at the library, my burrow, and the Commerce Guild so your characters can find out about the event IC (sorry, I never ran into Faeyl and Sessha IC doesn't know that they do anything related to the event so they didn't send a letter).

The flier includes a list of donors so far; there's one person who gave me a bunch of supplies (which I did stick in the event crate) but we didn't clarify much IC because I've been running around so much, so I've sent you a private thread in case you want your name there.
