While this is primarily a suggestion for cookbooks, I could see the functionality extended to regular books as well, especially ones that end up being much longer.

I'd love a table of contents page to be able to easily find a specific recipe, especially since even a single simple recipe takes up a whole page, which can end up making the cookbook pretty lengthy. Additionally, a "return to first page" (or "return to table of contents") option would also be really helpful!
