Nothing terribly exciting to look at today; as promised I did a lot of work on items -- mostly importing item sprites. So many item sprites. Why are there so many items in this game? But, I did manage to finish items spawning in the world with a few test items I picked out for being easy to implement, like scrounge. This lays the groundwork for adding all the rest, most of which probably won't be too hard. Except for importing the sprites. That's a huge pain in the butt. Tomorrow I'll likely tackle the context menu so my poor test character can eat some of the food in his inventory.

Happy October! I had once hoped that we might return the game by firemelon season. Sadly, it looks like that's not to be; we're nowhere near finished with what we wanted to get done. The only thing that's finished is the overhauled character creation. On the bright side, I'm likely going to be adding in the in-game time tracker by the time we return, so in-game seasons will be based on in-game time. That means you'll get four Fireleafs a year!

I know the last week or so of updates have not been very tantalizing, but I can say from experience that this stuff snowballs. The further we get into the rebuilt client, the easier it will be to add new things in, since we don't have to add the underlying systems for every feature they touch. The list is still quite long, but I expect feature parity with the old client by the end of the month, and then I'll be able to return to implementing new content.
