Lately, any attempts to craft pies on the preparation table has resulted in a cooking failure, but I never receive a pie tin with the failure. I also get the message "There's no room there," as if there's something already in the pie tin despite being empty.
This also seems to happen with cakes, as it gave me the same error when trying to make a cake. Same result of not getting my jars, round pan, or other vessel items back, and did not receive a cooking failure.
After a lot of various testing, I think this isn't related to pies/cakes specifically, but crafting failures being bugged again.
This bug report is similar to my experience.
I may have just had a particularly unlucky streak with pies and cakes, but getting a crafting failure (specifically a failure and not a disaster) causes pans to vanish.
You get the message, "There's no room in there" followed by "Crafted: Cooking Failure," but the pan simply vanishes and doesn't produce an emptyable failure.
