EDIT: Just a blanket, may be 'spoilers' about particular characters/events. Harris scritches about whatever silly little thought comes to his head. Its been an eventfull few days since I first found myself at the great Morenth Library. Finally!! I thought its been so long since I set out I still can scarsely believe it. There are more books here than I have seen in my whole life.  Though to be fair prior expose was fairly limited... It feels strange to just... suddenlt have such access to things! Well. Acccess to what is in my realm of understanding. There are tomes so complex they make my head spin even looking at a single page!

 I thought it would be a good idea to do weekly journals but now I fear waiting may have been a mistake. Its easy to forget things if you don't write them down or else make some note of them. And white all the new faces I've run into in the surroundng area, notes are going to be direly important for me.

I fear few who were present will forget my blunder with the barrel in the Lantern. maybe it is one of those things you think about more than anyone else would  but it haunts me. I think I will only drink from the lake from now on. I am getting out of sequence already. I will have to go back and organize these thoughts ome day.

what I'd lik to accomplish is a summary of these past three days, and faces who were most notable to me. ah not that anyoneIdontmentionisntnotablebut those may be notable in ways hard to describe. Yes.

OKAY SO long and short of it: I found myself alone in the Morenth library. I read quite a few books before suddenly I met a small fox: Fennai. She came right up to me and said: You new bunny? Or something to that effect. She had an accent. playful spirit! told me she was a local smith.  very distinct, and seemed like lots of people knew her. When she showed me to the tavern, there were lots of critters there, and lots knew eachother. It is a bit of blur who was there and when... Mileurch, a great and powerful mage was there, briefly! (I did forget their name today which was pretty embarassing) They did some kind spells on me and hope to never be on their bad side because they can do curses too!

Anyway there was a lot of.. banter between Fennai, a squirrel named Riley, and a marten named Nis. But then it went sour so I got a little nervous and left.  I am still unsure if Nis and Fennai will make up... I went exploring on my own a while which was a terrible idea because it got dark and I could not see a thing. (And to make things worse, I'd later come to find a VAMPIRE(?!?!!?!) lives around the places I was poking around!!) Then I went to the library to read some more. I met a raccoon named Io.

Then I read some more until I got terribly thirsty...

Some folks were sparring in front of the tavern.  I really did lose all sense trying to get that barrel open... It spilled. It spilled EVERYWHERE. I spilled it. I'm not proud of it but I got so spooked so I ran off to hide... but I felt bad so I came back to fess up about what happened.. Gosh it was hard with all those cirtters there! I think it was that really strong looking fox who went to check on it...? But then there barrel was GONE. GONE?! My heart DROPPED. It all ended up working out in the ende but good gracious I thought I was in trouble there for sure...

I think that was where I first met Riley? They seem very nice. But busy.  I know they'v e been helping critters with forest craft and scrounging.  Maybe they could have helped me, but sometimes its hard to ask. Especially when I'm not 100% sure what I want to do yet.  Everyones so nice and I don't want to be a bother.

Anyway. uhm.. other folks I run into... Ah! Sebastian! Sebastian was very nice. We climbed and scrounged together. I felt a bit better about slipping from trees since a squirrel can slip too.  It took a lot out of me, but I did find some stuff. 

Then there was that scary mouse- no rat? I kept seeing in the library. I would know them if I saw them. But ah.. I dunno. They're definately intimidating so my mind just blanks when I see them. They're actually nice though, I think. I mean. They showed me all kinds of places! Secretly I'd wandered out there before alone... gosh I'd probably get an earful if they knew. I found some bloodberries to give if I see them again. Ah.. well... a single blood berry. GoshIwishIremembered their name

That's skipping ahead a bit again. I should get something to eat... but its still raining. Its almost as bad as when me and Sebastian were scrounging. I've heard rumblings about food shortages... The magic from that crystal in the library kept me going but it doesnt last forever.

I just want to find things critters need. I remember after my outing with Sebastian I found cordweed. A special looking raccoon named Ficus had a whole bundle of them from gardening! They exchanged it for some cookies and shared them with me. Very nice.. I hope I can find them again.

gosh I'm so hungry I'm not even thinking about the vampire. imnot thinking about the vampire. I'm thinking about the vampire. stars above... maybe they're just hungry too. But they still attacked Wizzy and whats his name

I hope I never meet them.

I ran into a mute rat named Tuf the first night I heard about the vampire. what a chaotic day... apparently a bandit rat was on the loose as well! a bunch of us were in the tavern and swapped stores about it- I did NOT want anyone to go alone anywhere. especially not Sticks! Hemlock escorted us to the lake, and Sticks gave us a bit of a scare when they wandered off. All was well at the end of it though, and that strong Fox from before was doing patrols to look for lone travelers/and or the bandit.

I can't deny there was a LOT of scrounge around the vampire den though. The trek out there is so tiresome, I can barely carry what I find back before it grows dark again. so.. maybe I had a silly idea to go there at NIGHT and then hide in the trees and wait for dawn. then i was rested enough to find the scrounge i missed and gather some of it.  gosh that was probably a huge risk. I'm not going to do that again, I don't feel THAT lucky.

I'm so happy I got to see Song again. I got a bit worried with all this business about the vampire, but seems like they already knew as well. I haven't been around many rabbits and suddenly there's just.. I met someone really nice. It makes me emotional. I would have never expected to learn Lapin this way! Oh rite! They do purple and blue magics. That was another thing I would have scarely expected to encounter. So many magicians! Mages? Wizards? I think mage is the general term.... 

Apparently there is a Sorcerer too! Silvy the Sorcerer. But, the scary bloodberry rat seemed on the fence about her. Capable of ..Mind Control. They said she could get rid of the vampire though so.. that's a good thing, right?

goodness me.. after hearing about curses I would have never expected I myself would be cursed!! Eyes really was pleasant to talk to before that nasty mix up. ...I worry how much of that incident was my fault. And after Arachnis cured me, there were down a valuable crystal. Though perhaps I'd be in more foul spirits if I were cursed as severely as they were.  It was lasting much longer than I expected. I surely would have starved if it weren't for Arachnis and Mirelurch. But I do feel bad because I know that wasn't Eyes' intention.

I'm nervous to tell Song about this. I hope they hear it from me first though. I know how word travels....

On the bright side, my scrounging has been getting better! Just a little, but a kind fox named Caprice showed me a new spot, and then I finally got some  pointers from Riley!! Oh that was exciting! I am convinced they must have a bit of secret teleporting magic or something hehe.

I also had a chance to meet the real Twister! (I'd mistaken Windy for him before- very silly in retrospect!)

someone should write this down. Maybe someone more important than me. I'm sure they will. I will too.  I don't know where to start.

No I do. I saw him.  The vampire. In the Flame. I could have never dreamed such danger would be able to pass into this place. I only saw him for a moment.

 he took hemlock with him... Nobody could DO anything. Nobody.  I've felt helpless many many times before but this time it was like a whole helpless blanket. I wish I could have been braver...

Dove needed me though. Or at least I didn't feel right leaving her alone. She got pretty far ahead of me a few times In that snow... Well it would have been stupid to try and chase after. I'm very grateful they let me Dove and Pith hide in the kitchen. We needed some place safe. I guess it wasn't all safe since vampires apparently DONT have to be invited to come in but at least we had a door to close behind us.

I'm.. closing the door in that sorcerer lady too. Whatever she's offering isn't worth it. I wasn't there to see what she did to Pith. I didn't have to be there to see what happened. everyone can see it now.

by the dragons blessings hemlock is alive though. Pith is alive. I'm  alive.  I'll count these blessings and live to count more.

There are critters in need to look out for...

Dove, who has been affected by this in ways I need not repeat. I will remember all of this

Tansy, that little raccoon, and her brother who I haven't met... I pray they stay safe. I hope others keep looking out for them too.

Web, who's been looking for a home...

And Song... I've been thinking about them a lot.  I need to see them again. I am so worried.

I wasn't expecting today to be so crazy!!!!!! it started out pretty calm, uhm, I met a fox named Trace and took him scrounging. he did way better than me than on my first try! like crazy lucky!! I think maybe i was doing something wrong the whole time... But I am still VERY PROUD OF HIM!!! A lot of that scrounge I've been trying to put towards places that need it... blossoms for tansy.. ink for dove.. bark and logs for... well. everyone needs logs!! its WINTER!!


Anyway uhm.. gosh am I feeling this winter... I am doing my best but still go hungry often. Mireluch says I will need to start paying for the yellow spells. But she also said not to go to Riverside... that's the only place I've gotten money from so far though!! Well- until I brought some clay to Fennai at least. Ah- And Bear. I've finally met Bear! ...I hope I didn't insult him... offered stars when he wants drakes!! AHHH

what else happened.. hm. oh. that whole conversation with Velvetyne... I need to ask Mirelurch about that. ..She'll probably just think I'm begging for scraps again though..


I hope nobody is feeling this food shortage as much as I am. But how can they not? Still, I think Cerridwen smiled kindly on me one day. Cooking takes time, so I asked Web to help me find Sowthistle. We tried and tried but every time, their green magic turned up something else. And just when I'd given up and parted ways, there was sowthistle on one of the side roads by the academy. I was so happy I could cry!

I also did some hauling work for Sebastian... stars those rocks.. almost as big as I am. CRAZY I know... I wasn't going to turn down a job though, you know? uhm.. he said he's pay me later. Sebastians my friend I trust him! Really Trace and Filaris took over most of the hard work though... one of them carried a whole oven.. which appeared out of nowhere again!! I was mostly sitting to guard the rocks once they came. I was a bit dozy.. but I watched the whole time!! I Really did!


OH MY STARS I ALMOST FORGOT THE CIRCUS TRIO!! AH! They are so cute! Three siblings that all start with V! I.. Keep hearing folks with V names though, that's going to be tough... Viva's the easiest one to remember at least! Little weasel. They seem to all know Hedgehog language. I showed them some scrounge spots! It feels good to help. And Eyes invited us to their room after. Wow. Can't help but be curious about a closed door, you know? They were kind. They made sure we all had something to eat at the cafeteria. Even the one who only eats thistle. and firemelon. :3c


back to the point though- things really took a turn for the strange... poor Kallandra. someone.. something perhaps... really messed with her kitchen. I'm just glad my first thought wasnt really what was going on. something really spooked Risk though, I'm worried about it... but they wandered off and I couldn't find them again. Lowe worked so hard to find the person who did it. Unfortunately tracking only goes so far when magic's involved. he was so dedicated. puts him in a new light! Hemlock was doing his best to help too, though he was already working on some other puzzle. Kallandra thinks it might be related. lets just say im glad not to be the detctive here I could not tell if Filaris was or wasnt a dopplebanger. I was feeling really down but Arsene cheered everyone up. (Aracnis up a wall, but I thought he was funny)
and finally.. Song again! Ah it always feels like too long! and not long enough... I've still got a lot to catch up with them on. they need their crystals though. I'm DEFINATELY not fluent in lapine yet! I really got thrown into the deep end with a new rabbit friend too. I think their name is... Yep? Wes? that's soooo crazy if its just one letter off from Web. stars help me. they helped me a lot though! I can say.. candle! table! those were the main things.

AHHH WHY DID I DO THAT?! 

That was so stupid of me.  As *if* Mirelurch is going to appreciate two stars.

But no... I can't think like that. They still cast a yellow spell on Tansy, so that's what mattered. I know I was undercharging so I have to appreciate it. They really need crystals...

It wasn't my last coin... today I met another yellow mage named Mia. I only had a whit to pay her with. And an ink berry I guess. She was so nice, I wish I'd given her more. But said it was glad to have some practice

On the bright side weather finally cleared up for a little scrounging! I wasn't finding a lot at first. But I found the most important thing!! Ah! Another oven blessing!!! It really must be a sign I'm meant to  cook. I really hope I can get a hold of Kallandra again. Or maybe Windy if she'd be willing to get me started.  I got my pay day from Sebastian too! A moonstone! Wow! I was a little hoping for food but gosh it's so pretty

Sebastian is actually pretty wise I think. He told me a little about his Commers Guild plans. And when Pith was feeling bad he was saying it's good to make plans and have a goal. I hope it's okay for me to take that to heart too.

I might have gotten Tansy into some trouble. I feel a little bad about that. That squirrel SAID he was watching us already. Couldn't he tell we were just playing???

Wait was that before or after Arsene got hurt... Oh stars, poor Arsene! Crushed by a million thousand rocks! I actually saw those two over there before it happened.  Lowe said there would be good scrounge in uhm... A valley I think? I probably got turned around... I was already feeling worried about Filaris and Arsene hauling at NIGHT but apparently there were so many rocks they kept at it even through the snow and everything.

I would have never thought Arsene could have any problems bigger than the hole he made in the tavern wall. I hope Quarrel feels silly! for getting so worked up about that now! there are worse things that can happen!! Wait no I don't mean that (though I do still think they were extra grouchey because they're always hiding in that spot...)

I'm still not sure how I feel about this Quarrel.

They do seem to care a lot about some critters but OHSTARSEHAYSIDTHEYMEANABOITTHATBOUNTYTHING I mean  They prayer for Rosa when she collapsed today too. And prayered a long time too. I have heard they maintain one of the temples. I brought... A feather there one time? Er.. or was that the other shrine? I have been meaning to give more to the dragons BUT ANYWAY Quarrel went on and prayered and stayed close until Rosa got back up.  Actually even after she got up I think he would have bite me if I didn't drop that cookie quick enough!!  

Thankfully Rosa's feeling better now. Apparently those crystals can backfire pretty bad. Especially for such a little mouse.

...that other little mouse dint seem to care. Fire snap magics.. INDOORS?! it's liable to stop my heart any day now! I'm glad to see she's found some folks who understand her though. Only speaking common must make it harder to find a place

I was feeling pretty out of place one day. It may have been the hunger talking but I wandered over to... You know where again. I didn't find any food though I was pretty much

My mind was fuzzy but then. I did remember seeing something strange over there though... And also someone made a den DANGEROUSLY close to where it shouldn't be. DONT THEY KNOW ITS DANGEROUS OVER THERE?! ah or maybe it was old and abandoned...? I can't remember I don't remember seeing it there before though

there's been a flux of new arrivals lately... Cher, Chisel, Robinia, Flick.... I hope I'm not forgetting anyone? Rutele and Leomaris arrived a bit earlier? Ah- a mouse that liked to pick up pebbles! They had a bit of an unusual name it's going to take me a while to remember it ...that mouse might give me a bit of trouble with my pebble codes.... I noticed someone took the one I left by the post office. Well that's not their fault I don't exactly have a sign explaing it yet or anything

Anyway I've been trying to show the new folks around whenever I can- everyone's been so busy it's the least I can do. I almost got Chisel lost though- that was really scary. I think as long as I keep remembering to point out important land marks, folks will be able to learn on their own at least.

I haven't had much luck in finding a cooking mentor yet. Think Windy knows I want to learn? She's been insanely busy though- ordered more pans from Fennai and theyre already all filled up!!

I can't remember if I saw Song today.. Oh- wait yes I did! At the academy this time. They were terribly thin.. I wish I'd asked Windy for more than one bread.

I have to cook!! I have to learn to cook!!! I HAVE TO COOK!!!

I spoke to Kallandra about it once but they've yet to reopen after the break in... It must be hard on her. I check on the place even when the candles not lit just in case. Between the break in at Kalls Kitchen, the posters spread around everywhere, the Flame becoming and impromptu hostpital ah... I guess there really has been too much going on. (this place really could use a clinic... Aracnis NEEDS a break!!!)

In brighter news ah- Tansy made her very second scarf! She really is going to be an AMAZING tailor!

Riley bought it for me! they said they'd try to get something warm for any critters who need it. And Hemlock offered me some yellow dye! It already looked nice in white but the yellow! it feels even warmer!!! I'm going to treasure this always forever!

Whatever's going on I just hope... I just Hope. I hope everyone remembers hope. Piths gone away some place to hide. I'm not going to give up either.
