Molly

Molly was born 9 Berryripe, Year of the Ram, 92 in a different part of Kalris! She first arrived in Morenth around the year 110, with no real magical aptitude, and hung out in the Bramble Leaf Inn, bumming free food off the owner and picking out quartz fragments from the beach to play with.

Critters back then were mostly foreigners who didn't follow Imperial customs and only paid attention to the season, so she had kind of forgotten about it, especially since she can't read so she can't keep a calendar anyway and doesn't really know what day it is at any given time.

She hasn't celebrated it in a long time, but would like to if she were reminded about it.

Molly can be kind of bullheaded sometimes, and the Ram definitely represents the kind of personality she's sort of grown into. She was originally very meek and unlike a ram at all, but now that she's an orange archmage and accustomed to standing up for herself, she embodies her zodiac a lot more.

Miracle

I think Miracle will be a little insufferable with it once I learn enough about it lol. "Of course a Bear would say that". She might not be overly superstitious about it in her heart of hearts, but it's fun to judge people and have a guideline for compatibility or general life advice. I don't think she's quite 'I can't date a Scorpio' type astrology girlie. But she will give unsolicited advice if the topic comes up in a sort of 'oh you're a snake- that explains a lot' kind of way.

Anyway I requested for her birthday to be changed to make her born  Gloaming, 2nd, Year of the Spider. Spider immediately jumped out to me as feeling the most Miracle. Swan and Lion were my secondary considerations.

I think the association would have influenced her enjoyment of Entomology.

And birthdays are definitely an Event for her why yes you should absolutely be celebrating her gracing this world with her existence. Just don't draw too much attention to her age, that's rude.

Dart

I keep forgetting to answer these but wanting to so I'll answer two until I catch up I guess

Favorite food! I feel like Dart would enjoy candy, pies and most baked goods. I don't think they'd particularly like sea puddings or flatbread in reality but it's more of a "I run the wayshrine for Althas I should eat these things" rather than enjoying them. They have the highborn trait, mostly because they have had a few bad run ins with non cooked food in the past (eating inkberries, accidentally eating a bug on some scrounge and probably more incidents as well) and then their parents just decided to only feed them cooked food and they've grown used to it. I don't think they'd be at all keen on salads. They'd probably hesitantly eat one if someone made it just for them and they were starving, but they'd much rather give it to someone else who'd actually enjoy it.

Dart was born the 25th of Berryripe on year 115 (Year of the Bear) They most definitely lied about their age saying they were 24 instead of 18 when they first arrived (and beforehand as well). Mostly to seem like they have a better grasp of what they're actually doing and not like they need to be looked after.

Bear

What'd I say??

Bear was born 13 Bleaksky, Year of the Bear, 83, and that's retroactively why he's named Bear. I got his age adjusted up to reflect the fact that he was a highly accomplished royal smith in the Old World and would have been fairly mature by the time he arrived, something like 31 years old.

He's probably not too interested in being reminded that he's pushing 60 and isn't likely to make a fuss about his birthday.

I definitely wanted to have him born in the Year of the Bear and I think it reflects him pretty well in that he's a gentle giant who doesn't like to cause trouble for others, but you really don't want to mess with him.

Quarrel

According to the game's calculations, Quarrel was Born 8 Berryripe, Year of the Phoenix, 98. I've been debating very hard over if I'll change it to 4 Moonbite, Year of the Wolf, 97... It's what I had in mind originally for them, but phoenix lore won't come around til the game is online. I just know something is gonna be revealed that'll make me regret it just a little bit, but there's also so much fun with the birthday I had planned. I always saw them born in winter during Moonbite, and Rebirth just seemed perfect.

Either way, they're a year or two older than I intended, but that doesn't really mess with anything. Quarrel has never known their birthday, and has been somewhat afraid to ask the only being who would be able to tell them. A whole week dedicated to celebrate their existance? To them, that's just a reminder that no one else did. They really like knowing their friend's birthdays though, and try to put effort into remembering and doing something for them. Even if it comes off as halfhearted because they're not really sure what they should do, just that the critter needs to know someone cares about them. I think they gave someone a pebble once, and then passed it off as a joke because they didn't want the critter to pry into their complicated feelings?

The zodiac itself will probably feel too much like a box for them... on the surface. They'll spend a lot of time trying to figure out what they are based on the loose expectations, while also trying to hide their interest and insisting it doesn't matter. Besides the obvious of them using a wolf as a symbol for a long time now, they're extremely loyal, silvanic persistent, and cunning. Wolves have always had this curious contradiction in myths of being both guardians and creatures of chaos, a community and an individual. They're also fequently associated with the moon across cultures, transformation, and knowledge. It just seemed like it was wrapped up in a neat package.

Yeahhhh I'll change it, I've sufficiently convinced myself. It would've been funny to see the Harris interactions from them sharing a beast though lol

Quarrel

Another week another question... What holiday does your character look forward to most? How do they celebrate?

Harris

(It would be funny to me too if Harris and Quarrel shared a zodiac lol.... Wolves are social creatures so he could relate on that front but I think Phoenix fits better overall so I'm gonna keep it still)

But onto holidays!  I may have to go back and math to figure out which holidays Harris has actually experienced lol. He was generally more isolated before arriving to Morenth, so having a larger community of critters to experience the festivities with is pretty exciting to him (albeit potentially overwhelming).

Looking over some of the new holidays, I could see him really enjoying Egg Hunt and the Midsummer Festival a lot, though his prior exposure with these holidays were probably more intimate in scale. I'm not sure what personal traditions he'd have picked up on, but he would be generally be excited and eager to help out/participate with most holidays.   I think Veralia and Requiem will be hold more weight to him moving forward.  (He did get very into psuedo-valentine's day planning when coming up with a date for his boyfriend)

Ultimately, I think his favorite remains Rhiannovas!  He loves an excuse to hang out and he's a giver, so making, or helping plan a gift for someone is fulfilling for him.

(Cuculis and Threshold are probably his least favorites, he's a scaredy cat.)

Miracle

I think Miracle has an appreciation for most holidays, hosting or being invited to parties would be a big thing for her.  And dress up of course!

She'd love the grandness of the Rebirth Festivals, as well as the Festival of Peace (out of the two, I think she actually prefers the emphasis on music with the Festival of Peace). Though she also enjoys the opportunity to play around with Cuculis and Threshold (these have more variability in her enjoyment, she would not like to be messed with).  As a gossip, she also really enjoys Veralia and Ardortide.  I feel like at some point any of these might be her favorite.  Hard pressed to pick one, I think Ardortide. She's always sizing people up anyway, so a showcase of talents and skills is a whole buffet for her.

Egg Hunt and Requiem are the least appealing to her.

Azalev

RE: Birthdays; Currently Azalev is year of Bear, but I'm still doing some adjusting there.  I kind of like the idea of them being year of Wolf or Snake, but them being a Teen kinda takes priority over what zodiac they end up with.   Originally I had their birthday down as Fireleaf 22 iirc, but if that changes its because they wouldn't have much concept of the calendar anyway.  BUT. If they learn the zodiacs, I could see them getting very, very into it.

Re Holidays: Similarly, they aren't something Azalev would have grown up with but they will be Oh? Something fun happening? Okay! :3  About most of them.

They are going to be absolutely obsessed with Threshold.  Shifting right into Beasthe mode.  Probably would like Egg Hunt as well, and the atmosphere of Requiem. I think they could grow to like Cuculis, but it risks confusing them more than anything right now.

Cinna

RE: Birthday - I'm still adjusting, haven't worked out the math of it, but Cinna's birthday is going to be Bittersky 25th.  Owl, Lizard, Swan, or Salmon stick out to me as the more fitting options, but I'm not married to any of them yet.

I was going to say Zodiacs seem like something she'd dismiss outright, but I think its actually more that she doesn't trust anyone else's assessment of it but her own.  Its something she'd probably keep close to the chest too, so she's probably not positing any advices or anything.

I don't think she currently thinks much of her birthday/acknowledges it, but may have repressed feelings about it.  If pressed she'd probably tell people not to fuss over it, but might actually appreciate someone making an effort for her.  She doesn't dwell on thoughts of aging/mortality, so she wouldn't be offended in that regard.

Cinna's a curmudgeon about holidays.  (Shocking, I know)  Left to her own devices, she'd avoid them, but there are certain critters she'd go with of course.  And she does feel the need to keep an eye out for anything suspicious  so making a brief appearance to scope things out is usually unavoidable.

Breadbreaking and and Midsummer are probably the most tolerable to her.  (Though Breadbreaking Cinna's liable to be there in spite of the spirit of the event.... Making friends with enemies??? Couldn't be her.)  She tends to be more somber around Veralia and she despises Cuculis.

Bear

Bear sees Ardortide as an opportunity to show off his best work, so that's his favorite holiday. He also enjoys the Midsummer Feast as an opportunity to venerate Dharasi. Both the summer holidays; shocking, I know. I think Ardortide would also be a good time to put on a fair like we had shortly before the break, with vendors and stalls and such. People can show off their skills by selling their wares and services.
